Considering the height and weight of a 8 years old child being 128,7cm, with SD of 1,18cm, and 27,8 with SD 1,20cm, respectively, the measures of the chair started to be evaluated, always thinking about the ergonomics and the appropriateness for children.
Once the main function of the chair is relaxation, the traditional angles for an upright sitting position are not completely required in this situation. Therefore, a relaxation angle between 105º – 110º. We used the halfway of 107º.
In order to provide comfort from the 5% minority to the majority of 95% children of this age, the back seat was projected to fit them all, measuring 73cm length, 27cm width and 0.3cm depth. The seat is projected with 45cm length and the other measures are equal the back seat. The height for the arm support is 20cm, with 5.5cm of length and 35cm of depth.
